I want to discuss today the subject of Gossip. Gossip, slander, and meddling go hand-in-hand. There is a spirit behind this act but also people can be in the flesh. Either way, the enemy is behind it. I want to give you some thoughts about this topic, because this has also been on my heart:
Recently, I watched a part of a video about the Catholic Church suposedly all wanting the one world religion. The accusation of this video was that all priests and leaders of the Catholic Church “represent the Catholic Church,” so we as Protestants shouldn’t even allow them to speak at our Church services.
He said of the ones that spoke in tongues, “If they were of the same Spirit, then the Holy Spirit would tell them to come out.” At first, I believed the guy because he said, “I respect these people.” I posted it on all social media sites (a big no no). However, I deleted it from Facebook. I don’t know unfortunately how to delete it from other networks, so please be careful and prayerful what you post.
The Bible explicitly prohibits gossip and slander. I want to say this: I have but am in the process of getting rid of insecurrities from my past. I make mistakes like you just read about how I shared someone’s slanderous video about the Catholic Church on all social networks I am a part of.
I wanted to say that because the article I linked to above said that the people that slander and gossip are insecure. Here’s the deal: You have absolutely no excuse to slander anyone, no matter your reasoning to do so. I want to show you a video that I posted the next day after I had made that mistake. It is called, A Call to Unity, Prayer, and Repentance, and a Message to the Catholics. This message is a cry of, “You are not my enemy, but Satan, our common enemy is.” In the description of that video, I post two links which I will post here for those who don’t believe me or whr Catholic brothers and sisters in the Lord—that they don’t all want a one world religion—that they want unity, but not at the expense of our core religious convictions. The first is a link from Catholic Culture’s website, which can be found here. I also give you a video from Fr. Goring, which can be found here. I also urge my listeners to learn about the Catholic faith without bias: keep your objections but destroy your defensive walls—don’t get offended when someone objects—don’t make it a debate, but a discussion. Debates never get anyone anywhere. You may win the argument but lose the war. For those that are interested in taking me up on my challenge, the Ten Minute Bible Hour’s YouTube channel also has a good playlist of videos about the Catholic Faith. I have compiled them into a playlist called, Roman Catholicism. Also, not in offense but in interest, I did some research on the subject of praying to the saints. Remember my blog on the seven abominations? I think it was the second blog. There was an article about the Catholics praying to the saints. The person writes that this is not right. At the time, I thought it was appropiate to put that on there because of my knowledge of the Catholic Church and out of love for the Catholics.
I wouldn’t want anyone I thought was going to go to hell to go there, so due to my knowledge, I thought it was appropiate. However, I read an article this night I speak of when I did research on praying to the saints from Catholic Answers. I also saw an article from http://www.openbible.info which had the same verses which that same article mentioned, which showed me that my fellow protestant friends are doing nothing short of preaching our oppinions. I actually found a better article that I liked from the same site, which can be found here. Robert Henderson doesn’t believe in praying to the saints, but does believe in acknowledging that they are present in the room with us in a meeting he is preaching in according to Hebrews 12:1 about the cloud of witnesses. The other article that I found talks more in depth about the Scriptural aspect of why Catholics believe in praying to the saints (dig around please and see if you can find it, and I say this because it will help you understand why they believe what they believe). I’m not saying we should convert to Catholicism, but we shouldn’t war against the Catholic. So, I’m trying to help us understand why they believe what they believe. I see a pattern, and I say this with all due respect and in love: I don’t see these Churches promoting unity very much that speak against the Catholic or speak out against the anointed preachers of God. I encourage every Church leader and layan alike to read 1 Corinthians. This book is written to the immature Christian, and I’m saddened to say, but most of the Churches that I see are in this shape. Again: I say this in love. I am not trying to preach against God’s anointed or promote disunity. I want us to study diligently and understand what the Spirit is saying to the Churches. It is sad that we will be more willing to let a sinner into our Churches but we will not be willing to let our own brother or sister in the Lord come into our Churches (John 13:35). Even if Catholics were “lost,” isn’t Jesus the “friend of sinners?” Shouldn’t that be even more the reason for us to invite them with open arms.
Also, there have been some gossip about Kayne West’s new Donda album. In andrew Wommack’s book called The New You And The Holy Spirit, he talks about how the Corinthian Church were carnal in spite of, not because of, the gifts of the Spirit (I highly recommend that you buy that book).
John Bevere has written a book called The Bait of Satan, which my friend and I are reading at the moment. If you are someone who is a victim of gossip or slander, you need to show mercy and pity on those that are dishing it out. Romans 12:19 says, “Beloved, don’t be obsessed with taking revenge, but leave that to God’s righteous justice. For the Scriptures say: ×Vengance is mine and I will repay,∘ says the Lord.” He continues in verse 20, “And: “If your enemy is hungry, buy him lunch! Win him over with kindness. For your surprising generosity will awaken his conscience, and God will reward you with favor.” and then, “Never let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good.”
Jennifer LeClaire discusses how she buys another woman Pastor who gossiped against her lunch. Thatt’ll do it. This verified that the Scriptures are true that when you buy your enemy lunch, i.ence. love your enemy (Matthew 5:44), that stops the attack of gossip against you or at least God will vindicate you. I almost forgot: Tuesday’s sermon was recorded Thursday, which was about the same thing. Here is the video about being Positive Christians. God bless!
