Welcome to Prayerful Thursday. Today, I’d like to pray about quite a bit of things.
On August 17, 2020, me and my Grandpa were having a discussion about different things and we got into the topic of Black Lives Matter. It was about a dream I had the night before about Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston Texas, which I will discuss with you all later. I will not get into all of the details as to what we discussed, but as you may know, Pastor Shane Idleman of Westside Christian Fellowship in California, with good intentions, rebuked in the pulpit Joel Osteen for marching with Black Lives Matter. Shane claims, as do many other Christians, that Joel is just all about the money. I’ll post the link below for your information, although this Joel or about Black Lives Matter; for I only support the prase, not the movement.
All of that which I have just described is the backstory. Today’s prayerful Thursday has to do with the Police, and the Blacks. It seems, as the media portrays it, that the black people get subject to “police brutality,” more than the whites. The blacks have a legitimate concern, so I want to mobilize any and all who are willing and let’s pray and see to it that without making the movement think that we condone their behavior and support the movement, that their heart’s cry is being heard. The first thing I’d like to do is, and I know that this may make me look bad, I’d like to post an article from their website on the reasons why they say the police should be defunded. I do not agree that we should defund the Police at all; for I understand and know that not all Cops are bad. However, again, it goes back to hearing people’s heart, even in spite of the fact that they may go about trying to get their voices heard in an illegal or terroristic sense. Here’s the article:
What Defunding the Police Really Means – Black Lives Matter
They said that they don’t feel safe because of this brutality. However, there are good whites, blacks, hispanics, latinos, etc. and bad ones. There are good Police, Pastors, Teachers, Evangilists, School Teachers, Fireman, etc. and bad ones. I heard someone say that only criminals would want the police out of the way. Some people tell a parable and call the police the “parents.” They want Mom and Dad to be out of the way so they can throw their little temper tantrums. Well, I believe that these people’s claims are legit in some respects.
I want us to know what the Blue Code is.

Now, I want us to start to pray for our Police. Grandpa said that with this code, if I were to tell on my colleagues (say I’m a cop and someone corrupt did something), the other police wouldn’t act so good toward me. What we need to do is pray that our Police will get more strict on corruption within themselves and police themselves. We need to pray for the safety of ALL Americans, and for the elimination of corrupt cops, not throwing out the baby with the bathwater. God bless! Let’s pray as the Spirit leads us!
Love in Christ,
Patelin
P.S. I found an article on Decision Magazine on August 22, 2020, which describes some Christian groups forming a coalition which advocates Biblical Criminal Justice Reform and changes to policing which are according to the Scriptures. You can read more about this prayerfully here:
