Complementary Blog: Communication Skills and Not Relapsing into Pride

I know. This is probably the weirdest title you’ve ever heard of on a religious blog. Well, I want to tell you my experience:

On one of the first deliverance sessions I did with my friend Justin Daubenmire – The Blind Exorcist, he emailed me some worksheets on personal boundaries and assertiveness. I just recently began to do them with my Grandma (I have a hard time forming the responses to each situation, or at least I did. Now, it is getting easier and easier to do so). I felt that the Lord wanted me to tell you my testimony of how, though little, this has helped me.

First, these worksheets help me understand the type of boundaries I have, which is a mix of the different types. Second, the Lord has told me to some time this week myself form a strategy plan based on the assesment I have made on what boundaries I need to change. The worksheet on what personal boundaries are gives a section on what healthy boundaries are, which helps me to understand the boundaries that we should all have. Based on the facts presented here, I will make a strategy, asking this question: What boundaries should I make for myself with the Lord’s help? In what ways could I improve on the boundaries I have? How can I do better at being assertive about my needs, while at the same time, I consider the needs of others?

I want to encourage you to journey with me in doing this assignment today. It turns out, the same worksheet called What Are Personal Boundaries can be seen on the internet by a website called Therapist Aid. I encourage you to journal your responses and if you have a hard time forming them, do this with your accountability partner—someone you trust that can help you in the area of pride. This is a part of the 12 Step Program we will be doing on dismantling pride.

P.S. Here is a video which helped me understand Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is what this worksheet is out of. For those of you in the email reading this, please click to read this in your browser. God bless!

My name is Patelin Cogswell. I was born on September 24, 1998. I was born in Oklahoma City. I went to Oklahoma School for the Blind and graduated in 2017. I am called as a Minister of the Gospel and an Intercessor. However, this is not about me. My life is dedicated to making Christ alone. This blog was called kingdomadvance.family.blog because I didn’t want my name on the blog like others do because I feel like it is not me living but Christ living through me.
