The Truth About Abortion And Human Life, Part 35: The Myth Of “Let Kids Be Kids

I want to talk to you about something. It concerns itself with the following verse:

Make no mistake about it, God will never be mocked! For what you plant will be the very thing you harvest. The harvest you reap reveals the seed that was planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, You can expect to experience a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life, you will reap the beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit (Galatians 6:7-8, TPT).

There is a book out by D. L. Moody called, Sowing And Reaping, and on page 71 on iBooks, we read where Moody talks about fathers properly parenting a child and talking religion, at least trying to influence their beliefs. Perhaps, they may grow up and decide differently than their parents taught them, but the Word says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he grows old, he won’t depart from it,” (Proverbs 22:6, KJV quoted from memmory). Another translation says, “Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life (Proverbs 22:6, TPT).

Take Abby Johnson as an example. She tells in her book, interviews etc. that she grew up pro-life. However, due to the trauma of her two abortions (at least that is some of it), she was persuaded by a person at the volunteer fair at Texas A&M Univity which she attended and graduated from. Later, as you know from both the book and movie, she later found out that actually, Planned Parenthood had the primary goal for increasing their abortions because that was where the majority of their revenue came from. Question: Has she still departed from those beliefs her parents instilled in her as a child?

Moody makes this point by showing how a boy is not taught religion by his father and then when he breaks his arm, the boy cusses throughout the proceedure of puting it back into place.

Question: If you drink in front of your children yet expect them to “do as I say, not as I do,” how is that working for you?

My main point, though, is pertaining to Planned Parenthood and abortion and these more controversial topics. As is discussed here, you don’t have to get into the graphic details of abortion. However, just like Moody says that the devil was not prejudiced against the boy that cursed continually throughout the doctor attaching his arm back again to the rightful place (or whatever they did back then), it is also true that the devil’s helpers in this earth such as Planned Parenthood (the organization, not the workers because many have come out of this industry) will teach your children something you do not want them to teach. Had Abby’s parents said, “Well, we’re pro-life, but hun (talking with her mother), I don’t want us to impose our beliefs, so let’s just get away from this topic with our children. Okay?” and her mom said, “Ok hun! Whatever you say,” I believe that today, Abby Johnson would not be doing her podcast, and she’d still be working at some Planned Parenthood facility. Think about that. Now, is it possible for you to pray for your child and God reach down and still help them in spite of you abdicating your authority? Well, yes! Anything is possible with God (Luke 1:37). However, that is the exception to the rule.

Perhaps, Abby’s parents in spite of them not teaching her and any other children they had about their pro-life beliefs would have still prayed. Perhaps, Father God would have still answered and she’d still be doing those podcasts, but this would in no way negate what the Bible says about sowing and reaping. This is not any excuse for a parent to just “let kids be kids.” Again, keep Abby Johnson and other pro-life leaders like her before you whenever you start to step into your parental authority. There should be a “holy haunt,” so to speak, concerning your children’s future. It shouldn’t scare you, but it should help you to remember the authority God has given you that you must take your place in and you must pray concerning. I hope that this has gotten you to understand the myth that kids “just need to be kids,” in the sense that people may have you to believe. No. You have a duty to instill the same beliefs in your children as you believe. God bless!
