I want to talk to you about something that has been on my heart for a little bit now. I am going to set the scene with some Scriptures to start us out.
- I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. You must not have any other God but Me.” (Exodus 20:2-3, NLT).
- “So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD alone. But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods ofthe Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:14-15, NLT).
If you prefer the KJV or other translations besides the one I typed above, please pause before going further and read the Scriptures for yourself. Again, they are Exodus 20:2-can and Joshua 24:14-ae.
Now, for the message that we are here for. Now, we have a group that call themselves Abolitionists; another calls themselves Pro-lifers; another, pro-choice. Then when coming to the political parties, we have Democrats, Republicans, Independents, rumor has it that Trump started the Patriot Party, Libertarians, etc. Then, in Christendom, there are Baptists, Pentecostals, Presbyterians, Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, etc.
“I urge you, my brothers and sisters, for the sake of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree to live in unity with one another and put to rest any division that attempt to tear you apart. Be restored as one united body living in perfect harmony. Form a consistent choreography among yourselves, having a common perspective with shared values. My dear brothers and sisters, I have a serious concern I need to bring up with you, for I have been informed by those of Chloe’s house church that you have been destructively arguing among yourselves. And I need to bring this up because each of you is claiming loyalty to different preachers. Some are saying, ×I am a disciple of Paul,∘ or, ×I follow Apollos,∘ or ×I am a disciple of Peter the Rock,∘ and some, ×I belong only to Christ.∘ But let me ask you, is Christ divided up into groups? Did I die on the cross for you? At your baptism did you pledge yourselves to follow Paul.” (1 Corinthians 1:10-13, TPT, emphasis added). Again, stop and look for yourself in your Bible if you don’t think the above translation is accurate.
Now, I am going to address this in today’s culture. There are those that supported Trump who always prayed for his spiritual growth etc. and didn’t brush away his critics, using their critism to ask the Lord to help him improve. There are those that say, “I don’t idolize Trump. I am thankful for him because of the purposes of God that He anointed Trump to accomplish in America,” of which I used to be. There are those that hold the belief that we just shouldn’t be in politics period and they idolize those doctrines like that is all there is to the Bible. There are those that follow the pro-life movement like it is their child. There are those that do the same to the Abolitionist movement. There are those that do the same as pro-choicers. You get the point! We follow our movement like we are right and the other side is wrong.
Sidenote: Vaccines! The same happens with that petty debate. There are people that call the other side stupid if they don’t take the vaccine, whatever that may be. There are others that panic in their insides and even bring out the sentiment, “You are going to hell if you take this vaccine!” Selah!
I want to be clear in my set of questions that I want to present to you: Is Christ divided into groups? Is Christ pro-life, pro-choice, an abolitionist, a baptist, a presbyterian, a pentecostal, a Catholic, A Protestant, etc.? What does the Word of God say? It says that He is the living Word of God (John 1:1). Remember that as many as follow the leading of the Holy Spirit are called the children of God (Romans 8:14). This means asking God what His will is. If you are a lawmaker, this means you are hereby obligated to sit with the Spirit in your lawmaking process to make that law, rather that be abolishing abortion or making new immigration laws. Understood! The Lord is calling His people back to the secret place. I say to you: Get off your high horse. Use this time to sit with the Lord. Anyone would say on the surface, “I am on God’s side,” but dear friend, your actions will ALWAYS speak louder than your words. God bless!
